VISIT SCIENCE GALLERY LONDON

Science Gallery London intends to be accessible for all visitors with mobility needs: 

• Wheelchair Access: Our building is fully wheelchair accessible, with automatic doors and a step-free entrance accessible via Great Maze Pond and lifts to all public areas. Please note, however, that we do not provide wheelchairs or crutches on-site. 

• Accessible Toilets: Accessible toilets are available on level -1. 

• Guide Dogs Welcome: Guide dogs and other service animals are welcome in all areas of the building. 

• Resting Areas: While we do not have specifically designated resting areas, there is a public seating area on the ground floor and seats available for resting in all gallery spaces. Please speak to a member of staff if you require a prayer room or would prefer a quieter resting area. 

• Mediator Support: Our mediators are available to assist you and answer any questions during your visit. They can be identified by their uniform which has the Science Gallery London and King’s College London logos printed on.

Science Gallery London aims to create an environment where all visitors feel welcome and included. 

• BSL Captions: All installations have a QR code on their text caption to access British Sign Language (BSL) translations.  

• Subtitles: All video content in the galleries is subtitled. Written transcripts are also available to support interaction with audio-based work in exhibitions. 

• Large-Print Guides: Large-print guides are available to assist with exploring exhibitions. 

• T-Loop/Induction Hearing System: We offer a T-loop (induction hearing) system to assist hearing aid users for events within the Theatre. If you require assistance using this system, please ask a member of our team. 

• Audio-Described Guides: We are excited to launch audio-described guides to support exhibition visits. These can be accessed through a QR code on level 0, through physical devices available at the gallery, or through your smartphone here: Science Gallery London

• Ear Defenders: Noise-reducing earphones are available to visitors and can be accessed by asking a member of staff.  

• Lighting and Noise: Please be aware that certain gallery areas may have dim lighting or unexpected sounds as part of the installation design. 

If you have specific sensory requirements, please get in touch before your visit or speak to a member of our team on the day so that we can assist accordingly.  

At Science Gallery London, we aim to accommodate visitors with young children: 

• Baby Change Facilities: These are available in the accessible restroom on level -1. 

• Feeding Facilities: You are welcome to feed your baby anywhere in the gallery. For additional privacy, please speak to a member of our team, and we will assist you in finding a suitable space.

There are several Blue Badge parking options available near Science Gallery London: 

• Crosby Row: 2 Blue Badge spaces: free on-street parking. 

• Tooley Street (off Burrell Street, opposite Tesco Express): 4 Blue Badge spaces: free on-street parking. 

• NCP London Bridge Parking: 6 Blue Badge spaces: paid multi-storey car park. 

Please note: These parking facilities are not operated by Science Gallery London. Availability and tariffs may vary, and charges may apply on the day. We recommend checking local signage or contacting the relevant provider for the most accurate and up-to-date information. 

In the event of an emergency, alarms will sound, and our trained staff will guide you to the nearest exit. Visitors do not need to proceed to the fire assembly point but must evacuate the building promptly. 

Wheelchair users will be accompanied by a member of staff to a designated refuge point. If you require assistance, please notify a staff member immediately. Your safety is our priority. 

During exhibition opening hours, there is always a member of staff available to guide you around the gallery and support you during your visit. Whether you have accessibility requirements or would like help engaging with the exhibition, we are here to assist.

Science Gallery London offers a wide range of events and activities designed to inspire, educate, and engage all visitors.

Do I need to book in advance to visit the gallery? No, entry to the gallery is free, and booking is not required. 

What are your opening hours? We’re open Wednesday to Saturday from 11am to 6pm. Check our website for updates on holiday hours or special events. 

Is the gallery fully accessible? Yes, our building is wheelchair accessible, and we have accessible restrooms on level -1. Please see our accessibility section for more details. 

Can I bring a group or school visit? Yes, we welcome group and school visits. Please contact sglvisit@kcl.ac.uk to arrange your visit or for more information. 

Are food and drinks allowed in the gallery? Food and drinks are not allowed in the gallery spaces. However, our café offers a variety of refreshments, and seating is available. 

Can I take photos in the gallery? Yes, you’re welcome to take photos for personal use. Flash photography and tripods are not permitted. 

What should I do if I lose an item during my visit? Please contact a member of our team on the day or email us at sciencegallery@kcl.ac.uk to enquire about lost property.
